TBA HISTORY

On May 30, 1995 a group of Texas-based intercity bus operators met in the offices of Kerrville Bus Company, Inc. in Grand Prairie, Texas to form a bus association. Attending the organizational meeting were:

Jack Wigley, President, and Coradene Autry, Traffic Manager, of
All Aboard America, Odessa;

Timothy Hancock, President of Arrow Trailways, Killeen;

Claud Kincannon, President of Central Texas Trailways, Waco;

Randy Isaacs, State Government Affairs Representative, Ralph J. Borland, Vice President, Sales & Service, and Theodore Knappen, Government Affairs Representative represented Greyhound Lines, Inc., Dallas:

Fred Kaiser, President, and Richard Dupree, Vice President, Kerrville Bus Company, Inc., Kerrville;

Richard M. Allison, President & CEO, Panhandle Trailways, Amarillo;

Pat Murphey, President, Sun Set Stages, Inc., Abilene;

Scott Keller, President, Texas Bus Lines, Inc., Houston;

R. D. "Bob" Greenhill, President, Texas, New Mexico & Oklahoma Coaches, Inc., Lubbock;

Robert R. (Bobby) Farris, Senior Vice President, Valley Transit Company, Inc., Harlingen.

Also attending the meeting was Jerry Prestridge, Attorney at Law, Austin.

Each motor coach operator member is represented on the corporation’s Board of Directors and at the corporate organizational meeting in Houston on August 15, 1995 the board elected F. E. Kaiser as President, R.D. Greenhill as Vice President and Richard Allison as Secretary-Treasurer. Jerry Prestridge was elected Assistant Secretary and was employed as Executive Director. Officers serve for a period of two years and the current officers are Pat Murphey, President, Randy Isaacs, Vice President and Greg Rogers, Secretary-Treasurer.

TBA has one Allied Member, Lone Star Coaches, Inc., Grand Prairie, Texas and currently has five Associate Members:

                          Amaya/Astron Seating

                          Bergen Auto Upholstery Co., Inc.

                          Motor Coach Industries, Inc.

                          Prevost Car(US), Inc.

                          Setra of North America, Inc.

TBA publishes a news letter [To Be Announced] periodically and has one annual meeting each year. TBA has adopted their logo and published the route map appearing in this web site.

Since its inception TBA has sponsored numerous meetings with representatives of state and federal agencies to discuss issues relating to the bus industry in Texas. These agencies have included the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Texas Department of Transportation, the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, the Texas Insurance Commission, the Texas Department of Economic Development, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration of the U. S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration. Representatives of TBA have appeared before various U. S. Congressional and Texas Legislative committees which were considering matters dealing with passenger transportation by commercial vehicles.

TBA is a member of both the American Bus Association and United Motorcoach Association.
